Emphasis in collecting is given to Dutchess County materials, but the Historical Society also holds materials related to the history of New York State as well as the histories of Putnam and Ulster Counties. (Putnam County was part of Dutchess County until 1812, and there were early migrations from Ulster County to Dutchess County.)
